What is the setter's primary job on offense?

To deliver a good second contact to hitters and run the offense.

The setter’s primary job on offense is to orchestrate the attack by delivering a precise second contact to hitters and running the offense. After the first ball comes to them, the setter places the ball in the hitter’s lane with the right tempo, height, and location to create a strong, high-percentage attack, while also choosing which hitter to set based on the defense. This tempo control and target selection keep the offense balanced and difficult for blockers to read.

Defending the net is a defensive role, scoring points with the first ball is typically the hitter’s job, and recruiting players isn’t part of on-court play.

To defend the net.

To score points with the first ball.

To recruit players.
